The power of nature

An exhibition of Marek Niedojadlo’s paintings will take place in Katarzyna Napiorkowska Gallery in April. This Warsaw presentation will precede an exhibition in Mainz, Germany.

Marek Niedojadlo represents a very important in Polish art trend of colourism and, at the same time, he pays homage to impressionism. Vibrating colours, contrastive juxtapositions – they are a leitmotiv of his works. A strong moodiness which can be seen in his paintings expresses inconstancy of nature, as the fundamental motif of his paintings is landscape. Sometimes, the artist shows a wild, unaffected nature and then he gives us paintings full of architecture, but still in full harmony with nature.

Sapphire bushes, strips of roads, patchworks of fields, fleecy clouds, blazing redness, mild ochre – this is a profuse universe of Marek Niedojadlo’s painting.

The artist graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, a university, where, through decades, school of colourism initiated by Pankiewicz, and an expressive trend, coexisted. The combination of those two ways of perception is demonstrated in, what is called, a painting vision. This topic seems to be of minor meaning – the basic issue of the artist’s works is building the painting with colour, to show, in the best way, what is seen in nature, but also what we can feel owing to it. Thus, an expressive mannerism and a decided track of a brush, which can be found on canvas, is the evidence to the power of nature, to which the artist looks up.

Marek Niedojadlo’s landscapes are a far cry of mild sceneries – they are more like paeans to the power of nature.

Here, mimetism is replaced with a very personal vision; the paintings of nature are processed in the perception of the artist, who supplements them with emotions. On the groundwork of the painting arise its reflections – landscapes of soul – where a picture of sunny summer becomes the synonym of joy, and winter landscape gives the feeling of melancholy and nostalgia.
