Niedojadlo on London’s auction

Pictures of Marek Niedojadlo, a respected Tarnow painter, appeared during an auction at Christie’s, a famous auction house in London. How did the Tarnow artist’s works get to the firm selling paintings of the greatest?

-An English art dealer, who saw my paintings somewhere on the internet, contacted me – says Marek Niedojadlo – She said she would be glad to come to Tarnow to talk to me and see the rest of my works.

The effect of her visit was an initial agreement to cooperate and to take some of Niedojadlo�s paintings to London. A few weeks later the artist was informed, that two of his paintings were qualified for the nearest auction at Chrisite’s. During the February auction, one of his paintings was sold and the other one was reserved by an anonymous collector.

According to the information I got from the art dealer, next two paintings of mine will appear during the April auction at Christie’s – says Niedojadlo.

Everything indicates that Niedojadlo’s painting is appreciated by Londoners, which can be a prelude to organizing a bigger exhibition in this, especially demanding for artists, city – which, of course, we wish Marek with all our hearts.

The last exhibition of Marek Niedojadlo’s paintings could be seen in Hortar Gallery in Tarnow in 2008. Earlier, he had two exhibitions in Munich, which got very good reviews, among others in such newspapers as Sueddeutsche Zeitung and Muenchner Merkur. The artist also had an exhibition in Pictor Gallery in Mainz and Trier. Apart from that, he permanently cooperates with Katarzyna Napiorkowska Gallery in Warsaw.

The artist has been creating stained -glass windows lately and he is also the author of projects and realizations of the church polychromes in Latoszyn, Głobikowa, Brzostek, Borowa, Czarny Potok, Mielec, Piotrkowice and many others.

The fifty-six year old Tarnow artist is a graduate of Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He got a degree in 1981 at Professor Zbigniew Grzybowski. He pursues easel painting, drawing, wall polychromes, stained-glass windows and sacred painting. He received a Minister of Culture’s grant twice; he has had lots of both individual and collective exhibitions.
